cow bells, fondue and flowers! Inspiration for a pattern collection
one thing I am always asked is where my inspiration comes from. It's an easy question to answer: the truth is that inspiration is everywhere; sometimes I actively seek it out and other times it seems to seek me out! In fact when I need to concentrate on a project I have to lock myself away in my studio to avoid being distracted by all the inspiring things that surround me
inspiration can come from a trip to the market, growing plants and flowers, a favourite jug, the way light falls to cast a shadow, a magazine article, an old photo or even from dreams. But if there is one sure-fire way to get inspired it is to travel and escape the "every-day"
the inspiration for my next collection has come from a week walking in the French Alps, discovering what lays under the icy layers of snow after the skiers have departed and the sun's rays have melted it away
I knew there would be some beautiful flowers but nothing prepared me for the variety and sheer number of blooms that we would see. I have returned armed with a full sketchbook, hundreds of photos and bursting with inspiration for a new collection!
