I am so excited to share my latest collection with you!
I have the wonderful Bonnie Christine to thank again for inspiring me and for setting a project to create a mini collection of repeating patterns. She generously shared how she goes about creating her pattern collections for quilting fabrics, and the story that holds the collection together
as one of my dreams is to one day have my own quilting fabric collections produced I threw myself into this project 110%. I really enjoyed interpreting my narrative into patterns that work together, choosing the names for the designs and the colours and designing a logo. I have no experience in lettering but I now realise I need to study this discipline for future logos and design projects
Bonnie's project required us to create a set of 6 patterns:
once I had these together I wanted to add 4 more "blender" designs as I had so many ideas I wanted to try out. Quilting fabric producers like to have 8-10 designs in a collection and 2 different colour-ways that work with each other well, so I treated this like a real "brief". Below is the collection in the second colour-way:
I am so happy with the result and that all the time and effort I put into this project came good. Here is a basic mock-up of a small quilt to give an idea of how the fabrics could work together:
now to plan for my next collection...
